He certainly is a snappy dresser.

As for the WD-40 though...

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Great solution on a nasty prob, but this magic effect will lasts by how much time? The stylus will suffer any damage?

Does it have to be a regular towel from the super market or can it be from a bed and Bath store?  :icon_lol:

When I was into Vinyl, static wasn't much of an issue for me. As for WD40, the results speak for themselves.

It is just acting like a lubricant it seems. Perhaps it could re-vitalize the vinyl a bit? Some minerals and such are good for vinyl.

He forgot to use Shamwow, dammit!

It's much clearer with Shamwow.

It's a combination of the aerosols that leach out compounds in the vinyl and the waxy petroleum oil left on the vinyl that are the problem.  The aerosols can also dissolve the glue on a bonded stylus.  Gruv Glide is reportedly safe to use if you want to treat your vinyl with something, although it's said to leave residue on the stylus that's easy to remove, but a pain nonetheless.

WD40 is a great glue remover. Probably even the glue that holds the stylus to the cantilever.

Also, most cantilevers are porous. WD40 will get absorbed into the cantilever.

No, this does not sound like a good idea.
