Massdrop JBL LSR30x - $179.99!!
« on: 19 Dec 2017, 12:23 am »
Finally looks like massdrop adjusted the prices to reflect the ongoing sale prices of regular lsr305.
They dropped $100 off the previously listed price and I think this is a real good deal! $180 shipped for a pair of gloss black matched pair is definitely a sweet deal.

Wow, at $280/pair in gloss black it’s a phenomenal speaker, but at $180/pair, this is now competing with ELAC Debut B6 pricing which is a passive speaker.

Get it before they come to their senses!

Best,
Anand.

I have a younger coworker looking to build a 2 channel system that can also integrate his AV desires, and to whom I'd recommended the 305 / 30X previously.  He just bought the 30X tonight and is now on the hunt for a front end.  I suggested the Oppo Sonica DAC to provide him a complete streamer-to-speaker solution for $1000, or maybe $1200 when you add in the IsoAcountics ISO-L8R, a spare pair of XLR cables I offered up for cheap, and his first high-res download or two.  We'll see where he lands with it all, but I'm looking forward to hearing the end result!

(I have no immediate need, but I'm sorely tempted to pick up a pair myself!)

Coincidentally, I just posted this over at the ROON community forum earlier this evening:

https://community.roonlabs.com/t/kickass-affordable-roon-based-solution/35268/1

Having listened to this setup for a weeks or so before I noticed it was using Airplay, not RAAT, and then rectifying the situation, I can attest that the move away from Airplay was a very, very significant improvement.

Sometimes it's more enjoyable to find a $10 bottle of wine that tastes like a $70 bottle, than just enjoying the $70 bottle knowing what it is.

Check the C&C thread about DAC's for peanuts. Only $100.

I just bought me a pair of these speakers. :D

I took a look around online last night, and for folks who don't have or want an account on massdrop, it looks like the 305 are on sale at the usual places (sweetwater, guitar center, etc.) for $99 a piece.  I didn't see gloss black as an option in these places, but I did see a limited edition matte red at guitar center.  In any case, this still keeps the pair to about $200 all in.

Bhphoto had the 308 at $130 each for a short while. Maybe they’ll be offered at that price again before new year.
