Klipsch 160M

Hi All,

I wasn't quite sure where to post this.

I'm thinking of upgrading my office system.  I am considering a Decware Rachael.  Among other reasons, my main system uses 16 * EL34s, so it would be handy to have an amp that does double duty as a tube tester.

I had not previously considered these speakers, but the price sure is right and they're 8 ohms and 96db efficiency.

Anyone know how they might sound?  I'm sure they are not the equal of speakers like Omegas, but they're not the equal in price either.  $439, pretty cheap.

Thanks.

I'm also curious how they sound. I need something to run on 2 Bottlehead watts.

The bass may not be shaking with a 6.5'' woofer, what may be suited to a office.
The sensitivity and size could be bigger w/a 8 or 10'' woofer.

Here's an Audiokarma thread on them, though it doesn't have much information: http://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/anyone-heard-the-new-reference-premier-line.686451

I have these speakers, though I haven't spent much time listening to them critically, or even ideally (the girlfriend convinced me to move furniture around and the apartment's living room doesn't offer much flexibility), and I usually listen to headphones when I'm paying attention to the music. Recently, though, I've been pulling a chair over to the ideal spot, and I've been impressed with the imaging, impressed with bass from 1 watt (yep, just running them from a 1wpc MicroZOTL2), and, especially for the price, I'd definitely recommend them. I did get a few minutes of listening with the ZOTL40 40 watt amp, and they really filled out, as you'd expect. I think 5 watts would drive them beautifully in an office.
