Hi I am testing Nu prime DAC 10 + ST 10 with Tannoy XT8F

I hear a small background hissing noise on my speakers from all inputs even at zero volume. I am not and expert on Hifi, but i think its coming from the tweeter.

The hissing dont seem to go up in volume when I turn up or down the volume.

I can hear it when i am about 30 cm close to the speaker.

I this normal ?

I have compared same speakers but using a Lyngdorf TDAI2170. where it is just total silent even if i turn up the volume really high.

I don't know if it's normal, but I'm not sure it is worth a lawsuit. 
Try talking to them, first.

Good one sonicxtc, I actually read it that way until about 5 seconds later when it hit me, oh "using".

Pretty sure English is not Mic's first language, so hard to catch mistakes in another language.  Overall he does pretty darn well, I understood the problem perfectly.

So you're saying the DAC 10 with another amp is silent, right?  Assuming the same source it's not there leaving the ST 10 as the source of the noise.

I posted this on the ST-10 topic:

If you put your ear near the speaker, when there is no music playing, the amp is in an "unknown" state.
Our amps actually do not use external PWM signal for modulation. Instead, we use the music to create a modulating PWM signal (I know, this is too complicated to explain).  PWM modulation is fundamental to Class-D design.
Now, think about this for a second. If there is no music, what's going to happen to the amp? It is in an unknown state and usually you hear some noise.
