New to this function........  does the preamp need to be powered on in order to use HT Bypass?  Ideally, powered off would allow bypass and powered on would engage preamp.  Don't know if this is technically or sonically feasible, but it seems like a waste of tube life if the former. 

Enlightenment?

HT bypass is selectable when powered off, yes.

The LS100 needs to be on for HT bypass.

Thanks everyone.  Not the answer I was hoping for though.  Interesting that the higher end preamp can do this but the 9.0 and 100 can't.  Wonder if it is a design/cost issue.

I'm pretty sure the 9.0 doesn't need to be powered on . Dan will chime in soon .
