2006 Veracity HT3's in Macassar Ebony - SOLD
« on: 16 Apr 2014, 08:43 pm »
Up for sale are my beautiful Salk HT3's.
They were made in 2006 and I've owned them since January 2013.

Here is a picture:

They have the following options:

Tri-amp enabled.
Sonic Caps w/ Sonic Cap Platinum Teflon Bypass Caps
Alpha Core Inductors
Acoustic Zen internal tri-wiring
3 Sets of Cardas Standard Binding Posts
Black Hole 5 Cabinet Dampening Pads
Woofer Grills
Macassar Ebony w/ Black Lacquer Baffles, Plinths & Port Tube Covers

The Macassar Ebony really looks dramatic in person and I get a lot of complements when people visit.

There are some blemishes on the top front edges caused by wood seasonal moving,
about 1/2 inch piece chipped on on one speaker, also some carpet rash on bases - check picture.

Asking price: $3500

Shipping:
I would prefer local sale since I don't have the original packing, and would be
willing to meet buyer within around 250 miles from Chicago.
As other options, you can buy packing boxes from Jim Salk, ship them to me and then I can ship speakers to you.
Or, if you want to fix/refresh the finish, you can make arrangements with Jim Salk and I will get speakers to his shop.

If interested, PM tarnumf

The link isn't working.

Can you post a few close-up pictures or send them directly to me at username diofan56?  Especially of the 'flaws'.  I don't think they will be a problem but I want to see them.

Please use this one for pictures: http://budeny.smugmug.com/TMP/Salk-Veracity-HT3/n-WJj7T/

Sorry for the link, worked for Firefox and didn't check in IE.
You can also download full size originals to see maximum details, use this button in down right corner.

Also, couple updates:

- I have moved to Denver area, Colorado, so speakers are there.
- I have packed them pretty well for the move (see picture in above link, note heavy duty 3"x3"x1/4" corner protectors all around) and do not plan to unpack for couple months,
so now I can ship them via UPS Freight. Estimated cost will be around $600 (e.g. San Diego, Chicago)

Do you know if the tweeters in these 8 year olds are the same as in current HT3? If not, how close are they in performance and sound?
Thanks - Cy

The tweeters in this pair are the original Arum Cantus G2 tweeters.  These were the first tweeters used in this design and are quite good.

When we developed the SoundScape series speakers, we used a custom version of the RAAL 70-20 and decided to switch over to that tweeter in all of our ribbon based designs.  It is certainly superior, but the G2 is still a very competent ribbon.

Anticipating what might be the next question, it is possible, but not practical, to upgrade to a RAAL tweeter on this pair.  The cutout for the G2 is taller so the front baffles would have to be patched and, of course, new crossovers would be required as well.  The resulting costs would be somewhat hard to justify.

Holy crap Batman.  You can barely get Songtowers for that.  HT3's were my first pair of Salks and really are fantastic speakers.  I loved the G2 tweeter.

+1 - someone please buy them as I feel myself starting to weaken (even though they are probably way too big for where I would put them)

Something around $500+ if shipped to residential.
It will be $100-$120 cheaper if location has truck gate or forklift.
