At this point it's a spectator sport.  Just sit back and watch the train wreck.

Deserts are a feast or famine situation regarding water.  I used to live in San Antonio.  It was always dry and I and never could figure out why there was a great big dam in the middle of a valley, but no lake or water behind it.    Then we had a monsoon period and suddenly the water was 30-40 feet deep behind the dam.  Then I knew why the dam was there.  No doubt the CIA built it.   :wtf:

This thread is a train wreck, or Texas weather is a train wreck?  Or both?

The thread…

If I were still in Texas I'd pitch in to help, not be sitting back.

Me too, so relief donations will have to do for now...

All we can do is pray for you all.

Our spring has been unseasonably wet here.  It seems that we just brew the storms and once they cross the dry line they grow into monsters.

My prayers are with all of our friends in Houston, too.

And please, there really is no need for politics, sniping on religion, and conspiracy stuff in this thread  :nono: These people are in serious difficulty. Perhaps instead, lend a hand, or donate to an agency/support provider that is helping.

Well said.

Nice propaganda piece, those silly simpleton Texans praying to God for an end to the drought.  How ridiculo ... oh wait, their drought has been over for months now.  The vast majority of Texas reservoirs are at 100% capacity, and were before recent flooding.

Oh yeah?

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/fwd/?n=drought

About 3 years ago the NWS changed criteria for drought reporting, which led to a large increase in coverage of reported drought conditions.  As a Meteorologist, I don't agree with many of the changes.  Long term hydrological droughts are factored in too heavily, too little weight given to soil moisture.  As a result the long term TX droughts have taken the last year to be whittled away slowly, many areas that are in by no means what could be considered a drought, are still reported as such, because they're behind on the past 12, 24, or 36 month rainfall totals when past 1, 2, 3, 6, etc totals are at or above normal.

Yes, I'm aware.  Lakes Arrowhead, Kemp, and Kickapoo.  Only Kemp now isn't at 100%.  Your area is one of the few in TX that hasn't seen elimination of the drought until recently.

Guess you didn't pick up on my sarcasm towards those silly Texans?  Just watch the video from the link, you'll get it.  It's passively making fun of Texans for putting their faith in God, while the enlightened Californians are taking real "action".  How silly of them, right?  Yet Texas has had their prayers answered, California is still blowing away in the wind.
