High quality, industry disruptive products are just what the doctor orders.

Whenever I hear moribund comments about the state of the hi-fi industry, I look at what companies like Backert Labs are delivering and call "B.S."

My speakers hail from a former company with a similar mission, you may be aware of Brian Cheny and VMPS.

It's a few posts previous on the last page - "Contest is over... now we will hide in a cave for a few days and read about 4,000 name entries that we received, lol."

That was just a couple of days ago and it is the weekend now. So I'd guess around the middle of next week give or take.

If this pre turns out to be something that gets called disruptive, we will be very, very proud. Crossed fingers... Let us know if you would like to check it out?

Be patient. Over 4,000 is a lot of entries to go through and then I'm sure they have some sort of committee to go over finalists before coming to the conclusion. If they go through 400 entries a day it is not going to be an instant process.

Hello all,
Thanks so much for your patience. We got thousands of names and it was seriously hard to decide -- well, we have finally chosen a name, after long and careful consideration, and that name is "Rhumba 1.1" - a classic dance often accompanied by live music. And "live" is a good word to describe the way our new preamp makes music sound. The winner of the grand prize was Victor from Lawrenceberg, IN, but so many people submitted so many great names, all we can say is "THANK you" to all of you. Everyone who entered will be getting a more complete results email soon.
