J J Cale passed away last night
« on: 27 Jul 2013, 03:18 pm »
I got this e-mail from the Rosebud Agency:

We've lost a great artist and a great person tonight.

JJ Cale passed away at 8:00 pm on Friday July 26 at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, CA.

He had suffered a heart attack. There are no immediate plans for services.

His history is well documented at http://jjcale.com, http://www.rosebudus.com/cale and in the documentary, To Tulsa And Back.

Donations are not needed but he was a great lover of animals so, if you like, you can remember him with donations to your favorite local animal shelter.

This email was sent to JJ Cale tour dates mailing list subscribers from The Rosebud Agency.

It is truly sad news, he was and is a hero of mine and his sublime music was a gift to us all.

That is sad indeed. What a tremendous artist, and so unique. He wrote some of EC's great hits. God Bless him, RIP.

A disc jockey this morning said that it was an internet hoax but I guess not.
Sad news, he wrote some great stuff and I always looked forward to his albums.

What a sad news indeed. :(
I am a huge fan of J J Cale and not only I have every single album of him but I turned a lot of people into his music. The second sad feeling that I have is this guy was under rated big time in my opinion. Every time you go to a record store and ask them if they have anything new by J J Cale and they do not know him. I always preferred his voice over Clapton and his guitar sound was nothing less then Dire Straits.
I am going to listen to  SHADES right now.
RIP...

Outstanding photo of Mr. Cale.

In its day "Crazy Mama" got a fair amount of air time. Still one of my favorites from my youth.

Very sad, I know he will be missed by many. Magnolia has to be one of the best songs of all time. But there are so many good ones...

Revive of an older topic:

Can anyone give recommendations of the best recordings for Cale's music?  I had some of his earlier stuff on album along time ago but would like CD remasters or import recommendations etc.

Thanks!

Sad to know that he passed
