Gary's "fruitwood" HT3's
« on: 3 Feb 2008, 05:24 pm »
Gary wanted a pair of HT3's and his wife wanted to make sure they matched the fruitwood furniture they already had.  So Gary sent me a sample.

Of course, fruitwood is not an actual wood.  In reality, any wood from a fruit tree can be called fruitwood and the colors and grain are all over the board.  But most often, fruitwood is the color of a stain or dye that is applied to almost any color wood.

In Gary's case, it was a very plain wood with not much grain strucutre and almost no figuring.  We suggested perhaps using some nice curly maple as a base wood and then dyeing it to match the color of the fruitwood sample he sent.

Here are the results...

And a close-up...

Happy listening Gary!
