Toasted Sensation
« on: 6 May 2013, 11:53 pm »
Sadly my Virtue Sensation 901 has passed on to the great isolation rack in the sky.   :duh:

It happened while I was off grabbing a few things from the store.  My wife later told me it made a loud pop followed by static, interestingly the sub channel continued to function.  It was still powered on when I got back home and the side where the heat pipes attach was rather toasty.  Upon further inspection I could see several of the legs of the chip were melted away which leads me to believe this board is a goner.

Don't suppose you guys have any OG Sensation main boards lying around?   :)

It'd be a shame for the Dodd tube buffer, battery pack and ClarityCap MR upgrades go to waste.

That's a heartbreaker.  If worse comes to worse, I bet Gary could salvage the buffer part- might even keep it in the same case to save a buck or two.

That's a damn fine idea Scott.  Many thanks for the suggestion.

Ah ha!  We actually have 10 boards sitting in Denver that are looking for cases.

They were toasted in testing but can and will be repaired and used to help customers like you!

Soo... hold onto that thing and PM me in around 1 month to see if those boards have been repaired.  I'll charge you not much to repair it, but first we need the repair boards done!

(I have another one here from another customer that is also awaiting repair).

Holy cow.  That is some truly fantastic news.   :thumb:

I will send you a PM in a month or so to see how things are progressing.

I'm super excited at the prospect of the Sensation being resurrected.
