Guy 13 - The lucky guy !

Hi all and especially Bob2.
Just got my winning gift.
You remember that draw from Bob2 for a small FiiO DAC.
I pick my lucky number 13 and won.
Just got it and it's, it's... Well, it's small, tiny, miniature.
Have a look at the picture and you will understand.
I have to get my laptop near my amplifier
and try to figure out where I've put the coaxial cable
that a generous AC members send me.
I've stored it so well, that I don't remember where I put it (Hide it),
but, I will find it, my listening room don't have too many hidding places,
it must be in a unmarked box.
I will get back with my impressions when the set up is completed.
Probably this coming weekend.
Thanks again Bob2 for that nice prize.
It's small, that's for sure, but not small at all in my hart.

Guy,
Glad to see it arrived in Vietnam!
Hope you will find it useful, if not maybe you could sell or swap for something you could use.

Hi Jon.
The problem is that the two cables you sent me,
were put together in a single box and the box was put in a safe place.
Well, I have all day Sunday to find them and I will, I always do.
Thanks again.

Hi Bob2,
I will definitely find use for it, as a matter of fact
I already know what I will do with it
and it's out of the question to swap it or sell it.
It's a keeper and a user.
Thanks again.

No, I did not use Google translate for those simple words.
After 20 years on planet Vietnam, I've learned a few Vietnamese words.

Hi all.
I was looking at my laptop (HP - Pavilion dv6) that will supply digital music
to the FiiO DAC
and I could not see any coaxial or Optical output jacks.
I don't think any of the outlets/connectors shown on the pictures below
can do the job.
Any advice(s).

Hi Trung.
Using it with a CD player was not my initial intention when I won it,
but if I have no other choice, that's what I will do, however,
I don't think the CD player will have a better sound going true the FiiO DAC instead of the RCA analog output.
Anyway, I will see.

Guy - you need a USB to spdif RCA or toslink optical converter. These can range from less than a hundred to many hundreds of dollars. For the fio I'd be looking for something on the cheaper side. I'll look about and see if I can scrounge something up. I the meantime if ask you local audiophile or techie buddies if they have one to loan or can help you source one locally.

Xin chao Trung.
I think the built in DAC of my Rega Apollo is better then this small FiiO.
However, I might end up using it with my Rega CD Player....

Hi Jon.
I don't know if in USA you have the same saying,
but it goes something like this.
(Talking about the cables you gave me)
They were so close, if they had legs, they would have jumped in my face.
I found the two cables you gave me,
they were on a shelve under some old jewel CD case.
Looking for them like crazy,
that will teach me not to be more organized.
On Amazon the USB to spdif RCA or toslink optical converter
is not too expensive, however, I have to get them shipped to my nephew in Seattle and wait until February for a relative to bring it over.
In addition, I don't like the idea of having one more box/gadget,
therefore, I think in the mean time I will use it with my Rega CD player.
One day, I might find something via my Vietnamese audio acquaintance.
Thanks anyway and rest assure that your gift will find a good use in my house, even if it's not doing what it was intended originally.
