Not sure how many horsepower these are running, but on my system, they sound amazing.
When I reached 110dB, and the infinite baffle sub was going, the wife came down and asked if everything was alright.  :icon_twisted:

I'll miss the V8's, too.  Sure hope Bernie eases the regulations before F1 completely transforms into another NASCAR or Indycar.  (I can't watch those crap wagons.)

The wife and I used to be huge NASCAR fans, but they turned it into plain boring white bread.
I might sit through a Daytona 500, or one of the big ones, but I don't waste my time with the weekly circuit anymore.

It's a shame.  :?

There is just no substitute for the sound of 20,000 RPM.

I read an article in Racecar Engineering awhile back RE the new engines.  And the manufacturers were all worried about how they were NOT going to sound as good.  They were actually spending R&D on the sound, something they had pretty much ignored in the past.

Don't get me started...

What happened? I can't even watch the big ones now as they are so boring. I wonder how much of it is due to the fact that the cars are so reliable these days that the uncertainty created by mechanical failure has mostly been eliminated.

NASCAR needs to add something that increases the reward for taking more risk to reduce predictability. An option for faster tires with less grip? An option to take a shorter path on the track that requires more precise driving? Trees in the middle of the turns?

One thing for sure is they should eliminate the first yellow where the drivers pit to tune their cars. If you don't like the way the car is handling bring it in under a green flag to improve it.

I also wonder if taking a 400 and splitting it into two separate two 200s might make things more exciting for fans.

A car swap at mid race? Fans shooting paintballs at the driver's windshields? Temporary radio failures base on fan votes. Give us something NASCAR. We are BO-RED.

I agree 100% .  :(
I think their tire width could be cut in half, and take the spoilers off.
That would liven things up.   :icon_twisted:

For those wanting more displacement, check this one out.

When NASCAR decided that all of the racecars had to be the same I quit watching.

That sound......

I love the fact that it is a twenty-something driving that car. It proves to me that regardless of age, there is appreciation for classics. Though I didn't have a goat, I had the Lemans version of that convertible. Wish I never would have gotten rid of it.

NASCAR, I stopped too after are cars had to be equal.  Something inherently wrong with that entire belief set.

Thanks... I went on a "ohh what's that" clicking on the right string of videos for awhile...

Best video? Some wanker kid that made an RX7 into a V8 tuned suspension that's totally MadMax (not Fshit Road) ghetto. The guy from the YT channel that came and did the episode on it loved it because it was fun the entire time he drove it, instead of only at the limit like a GTR (his words).

I think that way often now... The better it sounds, and more fun it is to drive, the better the experience. I don't care if a muscle car is slower than a GTR, it makes you feel freaking awesome!

Somebody say AWD?  :icon_twisted:
How 'bout some Oldsmobile.

Scott - Yes man!
I love the fact the younger crowd can get into something besides an Evo, or a Honda, or a Veyron, or whatever the poster of the month is.
As car guys, we should always remember our roots.  :D
As a fan of old school iron, I think it's great when new blood digs the ol muscle.

Salis - I think I've seen that video. It's a twenty year old kid with a $500 1985 RX7 that full of rust and drywall screws?
yea.... I appreciate his passion, and if that's all he can muster with the cash he has, then I think I'll have to shake his hand....or give him a high five....or give him a fist bump....whatever the cool kids are doing now-a-days.
But either way, I like to see young guy into cars (even though I think some of it is just plain silly).

There must be something wrong with me. I found the first 25 seconds to be the most exciting.

There are some things that just don't come across on PC speakers no matter what setup you have.  I personally like to wake up to the smell of burned VP.  And then there is the  start up of a Nitro dragster.  That is the best burning eye experience you can have :thumb:
