Hello! I own a Titan II Sub
« on: 2 Dec 2015, 12:12 am »
Hello everyone!

I recently had an issue with my Titan II. I have owned this sub for 10-15 years and the serial is 0153. I love this Sub and would really like to repair it.

It suddenly developed a loud hum, even after removing the input cable. I went through the FAQ and rotated the transformer coil 1/4". I removed the PS from the chassis and found one of the large PS Caps is slightly bulged on top so I am not sure if that needs to be replaced. I have a video and some pictures that may be of some use.

Here is the video that has the sound the Sub is making.

These are the pictures of the PS.

Any help would be appreciated. Up until this issue my Titan 2 has been amazing.

I will re-post this in a technical support forum if that is alright. If you need ANY other information or pictures please feel free to ask!

Welcome Treadhead71 :thumb:
By the little I know this blue Nichikon cap is the prob,
not good power on the amp in this condition, that is
load sound. Usually caps go to south about 10 years.

Hello Threadhead.  That's quite a hum you've got.  Do you have a local repairman as that seems like something they could fix pretty easily.  Hope it goes well.

Welcome to AC!  Good luck with the sub.  If you need a tech, let us know what area you live in - I'm sure someone will chime in.
