A begging plea to ACI for another drawing
« on: 15 Jun 2005, 01:33 pm »
To all your SUPER folks at ACI :)  How about another drawing, say for a pair of Emerald On-Wall? I'm saving up for my own Maestro, need onwalls to complete my surrounds, and I want to order a pair of Sapphire XLs to replace my 25th Anniversary Sapphires (I still love them, but all I've read about the XLs has me motivated).  So I'd love to win something!

Harry:

I will certainly consider doing another drawing. I would like to see it have three positive effects:

a) Increase participation on this forums, and increase participation of those already here

b) Bring new members to Audiocircle . . . not just here on the ACI forum, but new members who can join in the other areas of AC as well

c) Increase FUN !!!   :D

I'm open to ideas from everyone on how we can accomplish these goals. Let's hear it!

Raffle Ideas

For a small company like ACI to do a raffle for a given charity is a noble idea, for sure.

Harry, Craig, EVERYONE :)

I'm going to want your help in setting this up and getting the word out. I'd like input on what charities to consider. My wife does a lot of volunteer work with the Alzeheimers Association and I believe that to be a very important cause . . . a definite possibility. I'll decide in the next couple of days what product to offer up  . . .  thanks for any and all input!

Mike - Another worthy charity is the 2nd Harvest Food Bank. Their "claim to fame" is for each $1 donated, $17 worth of food gets to those in need ?

How do they pull this off ?

Major food companies will often have "B" stock food which they cannot sell. It may be because the Corn Flakes were slightly overcooked, and fail inspection - The "overcooked" status is not even noticeable, but it is a product they cannot sell.

All the Food bank need do is send a truck, and the food is donated - which is where the funding comes into play. ALL funds go into distribution of food which otherwse would be destroyed - thus the efficiency.

Hope this helps !

I certainly agree with you on this one! Perhaps we'll need to do more than one drawing. Craig's idea is also an excellent one . . .

We've been working on putting together a series of charity raffles with the first to start within days. If anyone knows of a great charity that helps children in need, please let me know . . .

Mike, I like the Ronald McDonald House Charrities . It prvides housing for the children and familiy of ill children when visiting the hospital away from home. Sometimes some illnesses cause familiies to visit hospitals far from home and the stays can be long and costly . This just adds to the burden of an already stresed sitsuation . As we know insurance companys pay little or none of this expense . And some of these families have little as it is or are even single mothers . The Ronald McDonald house also offers many other helpful programs as well.

I like this one and give as often as I can . Sometimes I feel not enough . As sometimes when I look at my luxury items and then see little children suffering or other people going without I feel quite guilty

I'm with you. In the last year or so one of our local hospital-clinics did a huge upgrade to their oncology dept. Part of that was a brand new Ronald Mc Donald center. I was able to tour it last fall and was very impressed. They will be one of the recipients of raffle proceeds.  We have a great opportunity to help those in need with these raffles. Thanks!

After my own personal experiences with my niece, I am a big supporter of Children's Hospital (lots of them around the country).  Not only do their specialists have the ability to save the lives of children where a general doctor might not have (as with my niece), they do a lot to work with families.

While I have no personal experience, I have also heard good things about the Shriner hospital burn centers for children.

Looks like we may need to have quite a few auctions :) I'm going to be counting on you all to get the word out and make these fly!  Hopefully the first auction will be ready to go Monday . . .
