Pair of 6 X 12" Servo Sub Arrays (flat pack)
« on: 24 Mar 2015, 03:43 am »
Built these for Hollis Audio Labs. They'll get the wire run holes drilled before I pack them up for shipping tomorrow. They also get 1/8" hardboard spacers between each sub which give them a nice little reveal. I'll add them and take another picture tomorrow.

Any one else want a pair of these? :green:

The X-Statik baffle is there for scale. In case the space between the top and ceiling wasn't enough.

This is what it looks like with the reveal.

The picture raises a question for me, Ruben. As the middle section is the same as the top and bottom enclosures except without the top and bottom panels themselves extending past the sides, can a 2-12 H-Frame without the overhanging tops and bottoms be ordered?

Sure! Just let me know how you'd like them done and I'll do it.

Thanks,

Ruben

Those are 1/3 the design for the Open Baffle Line Array scalable speaker idea in work.

The main two way OB line array will be planar magnetic drivers that work down to the servo sub upper end.

Working with a local person to just assemble the pieces I have for the baffle and then put a finish on it.

After building the flat packs, then put a finish on the 6x12" servo sub H-Frames before driver install and stacking.

The dspMusik 8 channel DSP crossover will let me test ideas with these I have not seen done for other speakers.

Time to have some speaker fun.  Been thinking about this since 1979 and now the systems I want are available.    :D

HAL, my system is a mini of that: Magnetic-planars (Eminent Technology LFT-8b's) with 2-12 OB subs crossed at 180 Hz. Rythmik plate amps for the 12's, of course, tubes for the planars. No pics, though (I'm preparing for yet another move, damnit).

bdp24,
Yours should be a great sounding system.  Like Bruce Thigpin's designs for the drivers.

I really like the look of the reveals..... :thumb:

Are they fixed permanently? or can they be disassembled
to change the number of boxes?

It can be disassembled and number of boxes changed if everything works as we tried to do.

The separate units bolt to one another, so you have the flexibility to add, or subtract as needed.

Thanks,
