Cabling length between VDA2 and passive pre
« on: 9 Aug 2010, 11:44 am »
Dusty, how long can I go between a VDA2 and one of your passive preamps? I'm moving my rack, looking at a cable length of 1 to 1-1/2 meters for the above.

The passive's output cables should be as short as possible, correct?
Also, how close can the passive get to a SS amp (as in sitting above)? Best to stay away from amp tranny?

2m cable length shouldn't be a problem, and yes it's best to keep cables between passive and amplifier as short as possible.
It is best not to stack components...you can try it to see if you pick up tranny noise.

Magnetic fields dissapate with distance. About 4ft will do. Experiment as suggested. 1.5 meters should be fine.
