Patti Smith, Television and Talking heads were memorable bands comin from NY's lower east side in the 80's as west coast bands from the late 60's and 70's were disappearing into the sunset. I think of David Crosby's early 70's release "If Only I Could Remember My Name" as the end of the 60's seminal album. Most of the tunes reflect being mind blown and longing for some understanding and the musicians are all from four big time west coast bands with the exception of two Canucks, Joni Mitchell and Neil Young. IMO, this album is an historical milestone of the sentimentality of the day and shouldn't be missed.
Plus, it's a great recording. Head and shoulders above anything else I can think of from this period. Check out the bass reproduction on "Cowboy Movie" and the choruses elsewhere. Just super.
