Ahmad Jamal, "Complete Live At The Pershing Lounge 1958", Phoenix (Spain).

Think this is my first CD by Phoenix (I think?) - good sound quality, packaging, and insert notes.

This is a wonderful, superb piano trio jazz CD. Originally recorded live over two consecutive nights 43 tracks in total, this single disc contains 20 tracks. AJ assisted with 8 selections from the first night for the first release from this material, "But Not For Me". Then over two years later was persuaded to select 11 more, from the second night, for a second release, "Jamal At The Pershing, Vol. 2". (20th track is the single released, "Poinciana".) The "Complete" title is somewhat of a misnomer in that the disk is not complete with all 43 tracks recorded over the two nights. But is a complete release of all of the tracks which remain in existence as the other 24 tracks were lost. Highly recommended.  :thumb:
