Title: CIA power supply for Squeezebox
Post by: mcgsxr on 16 Nov 2015, 06:21 pm
I picked one of these up used from a member here.

30 seconds into the first song with the PS installed and I know I made a good decision.

I have owned competitive power supplies for Logitech devices in the past, and they always brought better sound closer.

The CIA unit does the trick well.

CIA has several power supply's. Which one do you have?

On the box it says VDC-SB.

On the box it says VDC-SB.

It's been discontinued. Their new power supply's work with a squeezebox and other media streamers.
BUT!! I have my SB3 connected to a very good DAC by a coaxial cable. So I'm not sure if a power supply would help.
I'm happy with what I hear now.
I'm thinking that if I get a CIA power supply I'd bypass the DAC and run audio cables to my preamp and
that way maybe I'd be able to compare sound with and without the CIA power supply.
AAAAHHHHHH!!!! Audio!!! Isn't it GREAT!!! All of us are looking for tweaks. RIGHT???

                                                        Cheers

I still have one - used it with the Touch while I had it and also for an HDMI audio de-embedder - definitely a nice improvement vs. the stock power supply

This is the latest CIA power supply for, among other devices, the SB Touch: VDC•5 MKII (http://www.ciaudio.com/products/VDC5MKII)

I'm thinking about giving it a try. Maybe I'll put it on my Xmas list.
Who knows?? Maybe my girls can pool their pennies together and put it under the Xmas tree.
  Bah Humbug!!!

I am outputting coax signal from the Touch to my modded Grant Fidelity TubeDAC-11.

It makes me happy when a simple upgrade works like it should.
