Brad

(probably around the 35th time since 1979)

Tom Petersson, instead of his usual “I know what I want” sang a Velvet Underground cover (written by Lou Reed) called “Waitin’ for the Man”.   Excellent stuff, and his bass playing led the show.  Robin Zander still hits all the notes.  Rick Nielsen’s guitar work was fun, if a bit sloppy.  Competent drumming from Daxx Nielsen, but he doesn’t have the flair of Bun E. Carlos.

Quite an interesting set.   No “Ain’t That a Shame”   No ballads like “If you want my love” or “The Flame” or “Tonight It’s You”.  No “She’s Tight”.  Some early, DEEP album cuts instead.

Good to hear “Sick Man of Europe”  from “The Latest” for the first time live.   The band felt like they were having fun – quite different from the dismal show at the Arena a while back.   Pretty cool for a bunch of guys in their mid-60s.  Can’t wait to see them again sometime/somewhere next year.
