Benchmark DAC2 DSD issue
« on: 7 Feb 2014, 12:16 am »
Today I came home and tried to play a DSD file with JRiver and nothing came out but static. If you crank it you can hear a little music. All PCM works fine and I have not changed any settings. I went through them all just to be sure. Any thoughts on what could be up?  I will obviously call Benchmark tomorrow but figured I would throw it out here in the meantime.

Was it working before?

Reboot the DAC, then reboot the computer to make sure the USB handshake is established.

Make sure the DAC2 is in USB2.0 mode, not USB 1.1 mode.

Check your Jriver setup:

  • DSP Studio-Output Encoding > None
  • DSP Studio-Sample Rate-Greater than 192,000 Hz > No change
  • Bitstreaming > Yes (DSD)

This applies to Benchmark's Wasapi driver.  Bitstreaming may be different using ASIO.
