Hi James,
Will the DAC option for this unit utilize the Crystal DAC or the one used in BP26/6?

Thanks,

Mark

The Cyrstal CS4398 which we use in the BDA-1.

So that makes it full fat 24/192 I guess?

Does it come with either the BR2 or BR3 remote?

Thanks,

Is the dac chip a double like the bda or single as the cd1?

Hi

No remote.

james

James, with all due respect, why not just do a plastic remote?

James I'm missing something here. I thought the bcd1 dac upsamples to the higher rate. I know it's basically the redbook 16/44 but was set to the 192 sample.

The BCD-1 does not upsample - it maintains the redbook standard of 44.1/16.

But the specs on the BCD1 says the dac is 192-24 bit. I thought the player was set to a single upsample rate. The reviews and Bryston's own brochure states that the dac upsamples 44 to 192..!! :dunno:

This is what I find confusing. All the info clearly mentions  the 44/16 is upsampled to 192 like the chip in the bda1.

The BCD-1 oversamples 128 times I thought. I don't understand what James means by saying it's not oversampling. All the info says it is. :?

That's almost certainly a mistake in their marketing material. The BCD-1 likely oversamples 8 times (the maximum the CS4398 allows). The DAC is probably clocked at 128x. It's a minor point.

The sample rate converter oversamples 128 times but the CS 4398 DAC's are run at 16/44.
