2 ported SSR?

Is it OK to install another port in the back of the ssr and plug in the front with foam? In my large studio ( 20'x 18') room rear ported speakers sound better, and fine tuning the bass with them is easier.

Rear placement of the port is fine but I would plug the front hole with a piece of 3/4" MDF.

I'd like to have the option to use either port, since they go to different rooms every week or two. In my smaller room, the ssr sounds great, the rear ported speakers are bass heavy, regardless of positioning. I can plug-in tight, but do i lose air volume inside the tube?

If you make the stuffing really dense it should be fine. You'll lose some internal volume with the second port but it's a small percentage of the internal volume. If needed you could increase the length of the second port by a small amount (1/4"-1/2") to lower the tuning.
