BDP-3 Digital Player Additions

MEMO: To All Bryston Customers
SUBJECT: BDP-3 Additions – WiFi & Internal Drive Option

September, 2017

Hi Folks

I am pleased to announce that there are too optional additions available for anyone ordering a ‘new’ Bryston BDP-3 Digital Player.

The additional options:

1.   Internal WiFI:

The WiFi is capable of up to 300Mbps 802.11n and will work with 802.11a/b/g/n wireless capable networks. Most if not all 802.11ac networks should be backwards compatible with one if not all of these versions.

2.   Internal Drive:

A 500 GB quality mSATA Solid State drive or 2TB SATA rotary hard drive.

The advantage of an internal SATA drive is it bypasses the typical SATA to USB conversion.

Please contact Bryston regarding pricing.

That's great to hear James. Internal Wifi was always on my wish list.

I think I remember asking you once about internal Wifi, and you (or maybe it was someone else) replied that Wifi added noise to the circuitry. Hence, the decision to go with the ethernet connection. Did you find this to be true with internal wifi since the last time we spoke about your prototype BDP-3?

Thanks.

Hi

Yes - with the new BDA-3 circuitry we have found that we can add the internal WiFi with external antennas and not have interference issues.

RE internal WiFi , does that mean you don't need a ethernet cable connection.

That sounds great as my stereo is in the basement at the opposite end of the house from the computer. So if i hooked up the bdp-3 with the internal wifi and built in hard drive then used a bot to rip my cd's ,down loaded manic moose or other to an i pad or phone i'd be good without having to use the computer. That being the case i just have to get some money together.   Thanks for your quick reply.

Will the "BDP-3" upgrade kit for the BDP2 provide the optional additions and future BDP-3 enhancements?
Thanks

Hi James,

thanks for the info.

one question: why a 2TB drive instead of a bigger one (like 3TB)? drive's dimensions should be the same...

Best,
Carlo

No specific reason other then we felt 2TB was a reasonable library size.

Any particular reason you write 'new' instead of just plain new..? Are there any older 'new' BDP-3's?
Cheers,
Marius

Hi Marius

Yes we have a lot of BDP-3's out there already with no WiFi or factory installed internal drives.  The NEW refers to any NEW(ly) ordered BDP-3.

Can the "new" internal wifi be bought separately and added to already sold units?

Hi

Not easily as it requires a number of different parts - new back board with holes drilled for 2 antenna's plus some cable rerouting.

Would you have a price for the BDP 2 upgrade?
