Q&A from the listing.  :jester:

why this big price? it's only 2 tubes and a box...   Jan-04-13
A:    Thank you for your question. It is because it is the possibly the first amplifier on earth with no other usual components that reduce, degrade and color the sound quality of your source. This makes the amplifier go from 0Hz to extremely high frequencies, >>MHz. It also makes an amazing sound quality. You can make an offer if you wish and if it is reasonable you can have one. Or you can buy a kit and build one yourself. Or you can just buy the schematic and build one yourself. You need to have high impedance headphones. Kindest regards, Aetoulis

C'mon. It's fake. I have never seen a tube amp circuit of any type that consisted only of two  tubes and a power supply. No output tranny and neither the listing nor the Q&A mentions it being OTL. Maybe someone with some EE knowledge can tell for sure. What is the blob in the lower right? Either a volume control or headphone jack, one or the other seems to be missing. You can almost read the tube type and see well enough to deduce the schematic- assuming it even is a circuit.

It must be a joke, I'm guessing the inputs are wired straight to the outs.

Damn, I shoulda bought in at 19K... It's up to 90K now. Word of its fantastic quality must be getting around.

I notice the handling time is listed as 'greater than 31 days', probably to give him time to disappear in South America.

I think some guy is willing to pay the cost of an ebay listing to make fun of audiophiles. Don't they have a policy against fraudulent listings?

Alright,I just have to ask .... What "serious Audiophile" would spend that kind of "serious money" on a "seriously unknown" piece of "equipment" ?

If his intention was to spend money to "poke fun" at a group of people that he has some strange perception of he gets my vote for wacko of the decade (The monetary value of this award is far short of the 90k he's seeking it is only worth $25 & 42 cents) (You've heard of the Nobel Awards... This is'nt one of them...yet)

I think it might even work - there are low-voltage tubes available: 12V for both heater and anode.
It is either anode or cathode follower topology, but it doesn't make it 'first in the world' and the signal quality might be questionable. There is no other specs except bandwidth - what about THD, frequency response, stability, EMI?
Great kit for DIY learning electronics (or is it accounting?). Cost of goods - $10 max (two tubes, wires, some aluminum pieces and connectors). The rest of the price - his 'genius' or assembly?
Yet another reason not to trust ebay - this guy has 100% positive feedback!

HI.

Seriously it is NOT impossible to build one provided we can find Hi gain tubes operable at 12V plate voltage.

It is to drive Sennheiser 300R type Hi-Z headpnes. I already know the schematic to build one similar Hi-Z headphone amps with OTL topology using standard HV hi-gain tubes. No big deal for much.....less money.

The key issue is to find such hi-gain 12V low-voltage tubes. Maybe we can locate such tubes from some
military outlets.

If I could find such tubes, I can esily build one for your guys for say, USD10,000, making tons of money.

Anyone interested?
