This latest update is horrible and wrecked my ipad. Quite literally, my ipad is a piece of shit. You can't type anything with out the risk of losing it. Its no good.  Buying an android tqb of some type. This is even with Icloud turned off.

What does this mean?

Apple was a bit sloppy with their iPad naming. I think he likely means the third gen iPad, as Apple dropped the generation numbers after iPad 2. See the chart here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPad#Model_comparison

I have the same Third Gen model and won't be upgrading to iOS8 until after my trip.

Downloaded iOS 8 on my iPad & iphone.  Works great.  Didn't experience any of the problems you did.

My apple model is A1430 http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5452

Do not update the same model. Its brutal and has made my ipad useless for any writing or lengthy emails.

Crap, so others are having the same "writing" problems .

I would plead that anyone who finds out how to revert to the previous IOS,let the
rest of know how you accomplished this (For some reason it does'nt seem to be as quirky, this week,
but to be safe I'm trying to keep messages short !. Does using a "real" keyboard with it help any.

"We're not friggin happy about this , Apple" (Yeah , I know they're not listening , but I have to vent a bit)

Later, (before it freezes up)

I say we nominate you for director of operations over at Apple so you can stop
the "knuckleheads from releasing the updates before they work out "any" bugs
that can arise on "any" Apple  product

I'm sure the released this update to coincide w/ the release of IPhone 6, so that
no one can whine " you can do this or that on IPhone 6"

IOS7 made such a mess out of my iPad3 that I refuse to update to IOS8 until IOS9 is ready for release.  Shades of Microsoft.

:lol:Not sure if your serious

I don't update my own iDevices until the x.1 releases....but many of my clients do, and so many of them were told that "Buy Apple, 'cause unlike a PC it always works!"  :duh:

The problem with major updates like this is that you cannot forsee all the potential issues with the many different devices that run the OS.
It would have been nice if someone noticed that the size of the OS update is HUGE before releasing it.

Too late I solved the problem and it wasn't pretty. The last update is beyond the power capabilities of my Ipad. Not sure if there is an update or will be for that. Doesn"t matter now.

I don't believe that. With ipads, what like 12 different models? You can't sit 12 guys down in a room and say "go". what do you think?

EDIT

iOS 8.0.1 has been pulled back.  Better wait for .0.2 next time.
