This preamp sounds very smooth and I've really enjoyed it a lot. Like most bottlehead kits, it performs at a much higher level than its price suggests. This is the current version, 1.1

Included extras:
PJCCS (compensating current source) upgrade
Rare matte black top plate
Black chrome spikes
Custom battery pack and charger for plate supply (replaces standard 9V batteries)
Custom mute circuit
Tube shields

I'm asking $250 $225 $200 plus shipping and 3% paypal fees.

I will also include extra pairs of tubes and a red top plate

Please PM any interest.

I built this as a kit from bottlehead, so the wood finishing isn't 10/10, but you really can't see any flaws unless you're looking closely.

It slightly thumps in one of my systems but not the other. To avoid it: The BH manual says: "Be sure always to turn on the Quickie before you turn on your amp, and turn off your amp before you turn off the Quickie. This will avoid any turn-on or turn-off " thumps" that might affect the rest of your system."

Hello rif,

I already have one of these and I enjoy listening to it.  I hope yours finds a good home.

2 quick questions for you:

1, What are you using as tube dampers? can you lead me to a source for them?

2, I am very interested in rechargeable battery system like yours.  Can you lead me to a source for this?

Thanks and good luck.

Thanks for the interest.

1) no tube dampers are used -just the metallic shields.

2) I chose to use 3 x 12V nicd packs to allow easy access to 12V, 24V, and 36V taps. For example the mute circuit uses a 24V omron g6k relay, the same that many audiophiles use in their diy creations.
