Looking to purchase a 52mm Circular Polarizer for my FZ150 camera. Don't know much about these and have done some reading. Looks like Hoya, Tiffen are some recommended names. I want something decent to try but don't want to spend more than like $50.....

This one seems like a decent one - Hoya 52mm Circular Polarizer HD Hardened Glass 8-layer Multi-Coated Filter ($49) and than one like this Hoya 52mm Circular Polarizing Glass Filter - B52CRPLGB ($30).

I also see some that are coated and some not.

Any suggestions would be great!

You might buy a thin POL filter that has a shallower ring and won't vignette on your images on wide angle settings.

So you mentioned to look for slim ones:

For $80  B+W 52mm Circular Polarizer Slim MRC Filter
For $40  Sigma 52mm DG Multi-Layer Coated Wide Circular Polarizer Filter
For $53  B+W 52mm Circular Polarizer Slim Filter but doesn't look like it has multicoating.

For now I went with the Sigma SICPMC52W 52mm DG Multi-Layer Coated Wide Circular Polarizer Filter .

I use a b+W. I read they make some of the best, but I haven't tried anything else. Somewhere online I saw a review with images that steered more towards the B+W.


I'm half considering getting a Lee filter holder system for using graduated ND filters.

B&W do seem to top notch for price range.
