Signal to Computer

I want to send a signal from a turntable to my Mac Mini 2010.  For the purpose of listening over my computer speakers.  How do I do that?

Well, you need a phono preamp (the record needs to be RIAA equalized) and then coverted to either a USB or, if your computer has line inputs on the sound card, then just some interconnects from the preamp to the computer.

If your computer has no line inputs, this will be a problem. There are phono preamps with USB output, but they can be a little spendy.

Follow the two product links below and it should get you there. Of course you can get the cabling at Radio Shack and VP130 from ebay or audiogon.

OK, I hooked up a little pre-amp.  And the little RCA/3.5 adaptor between the pre and the Mini.

When I go to Sound in User Preferences, my "Line In"  Input is showing a signal from my record.

When I go to Output, where I have no signal, it says "The Selected Device Has No Output Controls".

Any thoughts on what this means and how I overcome it?
