Would using polys in the corners behind di-pole speakers be a good idea?

Well, this is GIK's forum, so I don't want to push another brand product. But yes, when I ran small Maggies in my room I had polycylindricals in the front corners, in front of bass traps. It helped add the back wave energy into the room the the traps were eating up. But I think as placed, they reduced the efficiency of the traps.

You can try them in the corners, on the sidewalls at the first reflect points, or a single one in the center front wall.

BTW, GIK used to sell a real nice poly. Here's a great article on the subject on their site:

These do look very nice. I really wanted some of these as I think they would do great to the sides of the speakers. I wanted to go all GIK treatments at one point, but when I started to get consult about my room, the emails just stopped. I think I got one reply, and never got any answers to my questions.

So I just took the common sense approach, did my own plan of attack, and bought treatments elsewhere. Seemed strange, as I never heard anything but great things about GIK... Maybe they thought I was trying to suck information without purchasing anything? Who knows...

Beautiful looking stuff though.

Actually polys are real easy to diy, if you just want to try them out to see what they will do. Bent 1/8" masonite and wood bracing to hold the curve in place. Or some of that aluminum channeling used to hold up wall mirrors will work for the bracing. Google "polycylindrical diffusers", and check out the info on the Gearslutz and other sites.
