OK, call Rex and me crazy, we both ordered a set of these today for 16 bucks.

DIY Mini Amplifier Speaker Kit Transparent Speaker

http://www.banggood.com/DIY-Mini-Amplifier-Speaker-Kit-Transparent-Speaker-p-969408.html

I ordered for these reasons.

1. price
2.cuteness
3.no cross-overs
4.active
5.got to keep up with Rex in finding the lowest cost system in the audio world

Before I hook the active amps up, I will run them with my $17 Lepal amp and $3K mono Cherry amps. :o I would send these on an AC tour here, but it is cheaper if you bought the speakers outright. I have several grandsons, so one of them may get to put these together for me.

Those are neat. They could be paired with a host of mini amps. The 3110 would fit inside them.

I was thinking that most any inexpensive computer speakers with a 2" single drivers and 3W amplifier would meet most of the criteria (price, no crossover, active), but then I realized the main difference would be these babies are powered by "monoblocks".  ;)
