GAS Vinyl Crawl 2014
« on: 17 Mar 2014, 12:39 am »
Hey GAS

Sturgus usually sets this up, but I wanted to prime the pump, so to speak. Can we set a date for the yearly vinyl crawl?  The traditional dates would be May 3 or May 10th.  I'm free either date, but let's get this on the calendar early so we can get some interest started.  Who's free on either the 3rd or the 10th.   I'm also thinking I can get prizes lined up.  Put your name in the hat at breakfast then we draw for prizes at each destination.  (I'll find some good stuff, not that case of tweeters I palmed off on you guys years ago at Scott's Halloween bash) :icon_twisted:

Let's get some GASsers to chime in and help set a date.  Sturgus, when are you free???????

Let's let this run for a few days and then we'll see if anyone has a preference.  So far either day is good from those that have responded.  Watch this space for final plans.

OK, since no one has any conflicts this far out, let's set the date as May 3rd.  I'll get some agenda ideas and run them past the crawl members then I'll post a schedule.  Hope some more GASsers can make it and if you don't have table,  they also sell CD and Cassettes at some of these stores.  Maybe even an 8-track for Scott's truck.  Or better yet, you buy a record that has a free mp3 download, give me the vinyl and you can use the download.   :thumb:  I'll keep in touch as we approach VCD 2014.

Anybody want to host the group once the crawl is winding down?  Let us spin our new vinyl or CDs at your house?

I think I can make May 3rd too.  I bet I can find a nice 'prize' to give away as well.

Here's the list of crawlers for May 3rd, 2014  First, our out of town visitors from the West. (Columbia, Hallsville, Incline Village)

Bruce and wife Kathy
Mike and his wife
Jeff
Ray
Jim

Now the in-town crew.

Scott
Steve
Vance
Dave
Bryan
Byron
Ryan
Mark

We're going to start at 10:00 am at Record Exchange.  Next stop will be in Delmar Loop for some lunch and Vintage Vinyl.  If the beer/burgers/bulgogi don't wipe us out, we'll head towards Euclid Records after the Vintage Vinyl stop. If, instead, we're overcome by the fumes of new and used vinyl, Dave has offered his house for the "after-shopping" listening session. I know I'm looking forward to spinning my Barry Manilow purchases at Dave's house after the crawl.  Ryan says he might have something for the door prize picked out, but he DOES NOT MEAN A PAIR OF NIMBUS.

Anyway, that's the schedule at the 5 weeks out point.  I'm sure something will change on the way, but at least we have a rough plan.  I'll keep youse guys posted as we get closer and I get more door prize goodies lined up.

Mark, I have some excellent "Screw Your Neighbor" cds, including Susan Boyle, Kathy Gifford, and John Tesh, amongst others. We can also have a speaker toss contest, using a broken Klipsch RB 25 I found at a Goodwill.  :thumb:

Still working on a prize, but it'll be something nice.  I have so much stuff laying around here, makes more sense to share with the crew.

Cool!  We're three weeks out and looking forward to seeing all of you for the crawl.  I'll post some meeting times and locations as we get closer.  Nothing set in stone, just general time frames that can be flexible as we see how the day progresses.

Good to have you along for the fun.
