^^^ That's another great one if not the greatest for introducing "Jazz Messenger's" to the world. I have tons of Silver albums but have to settle down and make dinner and such.

Tomorrow's Fusion Friday, be there!!  8)

Sonny Rollins - Road Shows Vol. 1

Road Shows, Vol. 1 is the exciting inaugural release in the series of outstanding live Sonny Rollins recordings from the last 30-plus years. The seven tracks on this CD, culled from the Carl Smith collection and Sonny Rollins' own personal soundboard recordings, were recorded in the U.S., Japan, France, and Sweden. Featuring the saxophonist with a variety of sidemen, including Al Foster, Mark Soskin, Clifton Anderson, Bob Cranshaw, and Stephen Scott, Road Shows captures the Saxophone Colossus in full flight, dazzling audiences around the world.

Not a new artist but new to me.  A very nice album and a fine tenor saxophonist.

JD Allen: Graffiti

New to me but this guy's been out there for a while.  Piano trio lovers will dig this.

Quincy Jones about Kenny Werner: "Perfection. 360 degrees of soul and science in one human being. My kind of musician." And this is what "The Melody" is like!

The Melody

Line up: Kenny Werner (p), Ari Hoeing (dr), Johannes Weidenmüller (b)

Hi Cactus Bob.  You sent down memory lane on that one.  I lost a bunch of brain cells over the years listening to George Duke.  I became aware of him and Jean Luc Ponty when they were playing with Frank Zappa.  As you can imagine, "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" was a hit in stoner land.  Anyhow, I have a zillion George Duke albums but my single favorite one is After Hours.

After Hours

The personnel on that album was pretty special too.

Personnel: George Duke (piano, Fender Rhodes piano, Wurlitzer piano, synthesizer); Sheridon Stokes (bass flute); Paul Jackson, Jr. (acoustic & electric guitars); Ray Fuller (electric guitar); Christian McBride (acoustic bass); Larry Kimpel (fretted & fretless electric basses); Byron Miller (electric bass); Leon "Ndugu" Chancler (drums); Lenny Castro (percussion).

I hadn't heard of him.  The samples I heard are pretty inviting.  The vocal on "The Verty Thought of You" are killer. I've become a big fan of Erin Bode (she sang two of the songs).  You should check her out. Erin Bode discography.  I'll be on the look out for this guy.

Man! You've really got me intrigued here with this description. Even though I am still on a CD purchasing timeout, I'm going to have to look into this.
Thanks for posting!
