Hi Anonamemouse.
We are the one that should be embarrassed with our Internet turtle speed connection.
By the way... Are serious ?
That's faster than a speeding bullet or almost as fast as lightning !

Guy 13
Where are you located and who's your server ?
Can they provide service on planet Vietnam?
Hi!

Yes, I am serious... At home I have fiberoptic internet, 100 up and down, and that isn't even the fastest possible option. Our son is a gamer and we watch TV through IPTV. We don't have cable TV, IPTV gives us about 2500 channels from all over the world.

I live in The Netherlands. The numbers underneath my image are (roughly) my location (longitude and latitude).

The IT guy here told me that because of the summer vacation (I work at a school) the network is squeezed down. If I check at night while school is in progress we *should* have a 3 TBps (that's three terabyte!!!) connection.

Thanks a lot Anonamemouse for the precisions.
WOW ! Just to get the speed you get, I am ready to move to The Netherlands !
Just joking.
Consider yourself lucky to have such a fast connection,
many countries don't have what you have.

I went with "Sonic" several weeks ago that uses fiber optics and my download speed averages 832 Mbps with an upload speed around 106 Mbps. Pretty darn fast!  :o

Are there still ISP's thaty have a limit??? Wow...

About € 450 per year for 100 up/down. 250 up/down is € 600. there is also a 500 and a 1000 up/down option, but that's waaay more than we use/need. 100 is more than enough.

Guy 13

Just did another speed test at 4.30pm.

Ping: 10ms
Download: 2.36Mbps
Upload: 0.25Mbps

Can it get slower than that ?

Saturday July 30th.
At our showroom in the big city of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City)
with the Army Server - Viettel
here are the numbers I just got from Speedtest.net

Ping 4Ms (Much better than 10Ms)
Download: 21.43Mbps (Much much better than 3.40Mbps
Upload: 21.26Mbps (Wayyyyyyyy better than the lousy 0.something)
I would live without complaining with low end performances at my house
with the server from our showroom.

Even though it may not be a long term solution, did you try the speed test plugin in an ethernet cable to the computer to see if your wifI is the bottleneck? It looked like you can temporarily borrow the ethernet cable that you have between the modem and router. Alternatively, put the computer just next to the wifI router and try it again.

Hi Odal,
I went in my cable junk box and found a long cable,
sooooo.... I pluged one end in the laptop which is in my office
and ran the cable on the floor and over the staircase
right up to the modem, but wait....
I'm short of 3 feet,
sooooo I took the laptop and put it on a box in the hallway
and did the test.

Ping : 8Ms
Download: 3.50Mbps
Upload: 0.4Mbps

Humm mmm....
Not better, the same, still turtle speed,
sooooo...
thanks for the suggestion, but I will keep getting angry and, and....
Nothing.

Guy 13

Any other suggestion(s) that cost zero $

I have no idea how much it cost for that lousy turtle Internet connection,
I will ask my minister of finance, who's my wife.
Well get back to you a.s.a.p.

Just ran downstairs to ask my minister of finance about the cost
of the slowmo Internet.
She said : 10 USD a month.
Way tooooooo much for an up side down turtle connection.
By the way, I also ask her how much we pay for the much, much faster Vietnamese Army owned Viettel
super fast Internet connection and she told me that we are on a promotional plan and it's 10 USD a month,
in a year from now when we go on regular rate it should be around 12 USD a month.
Right now we cannot switch to Viettel because we have a contract and breaking the contract is costly,
sooooo we have to endure, suffer and more....

Guy 13

But you can be sure that as soon as the contract is over, we will switch to Viettel.
