Nothing new for me, but reinforces why personally I'm in no particular hurry to jump into hi res digital.  I mean a hi res version of a crappy recording is still crap...

And I'm done buying re-releases.  They're no better, often times worse, than the originals.

Compression is perfect to all these aggressive music styles as hard rock, metal, grunge etc

I disagree on the compression.  Metallica's earlier albums have some dynamic range to them and sound much better than the last 2.
