I had a pair of Frazier Monte Carlo's- a 6" two way speaker that was pretty sweet for a kid in his senior year of high school.  All the Frazier line were very efficient and somewhat bright.  It was said at the time that old man Frazier was deaf to high frequencies..... I can relate now.  Last I heard, they were still in business in Dallas, mostly making pro speakers.

I have some goodies to show off!

Knight 25 Watt Mono-Blocks from 1958 with all original Mullards including the EL37's.

I found these amps in their original boxes. The amps were never used since assembled. The chrome is almost like new.

They drive my Altec 19's, Electrovoice Regency III's and JBL C40 Harkness. Depending on flavor of the day.

As I found them . . .

After cap replacement etc . . .

Thanks guys! They came from the original owner/builder's daughter. He was a WWII Veteran and loved electronics and built a lot of Knight Kits in Chicago. He died at 92 years of age and the daughter put these on CL. The price was way too low, almost nothing. I gave her double because she had no idea what they were worth and I didn't want it on my conscience. Worked out great because I also was from Chicago so there was a lot of good karma going around.

Here's another kit I bought from her that he built in the 50's. Essentially new & unused like the mono-blocks. I haven't done anything with this unit. It would make a great harp / guitar amp.

There's a collector's item for you.
I'd love to hear one.  Does anybody here have one of these old digital grandpas?

After a quick Google check, I found THIS ONE. Near $400 with shipping.
That's a bit pricey for an "unknown". Although I'd love to have one just to play with. Would be a great item to cherish, talk about, and maybe keep for future as a collectors item.

Has anyone ever seen a 16 RPM record?

When I was a kid, 1950s, my family had three or four of them. They were not 12 inch records like standard Lps, but must have been 10 inchers, same size as pop 78s of the time. It was astonishing to see just how slow they revolved. They were from RCA. I even remember one was a recording of Offenbach's Gaîté Parisienne.

Now that I think about it, they may have been the size of 45s with the big hole in the middle.

Hey!

The beginning of "Perfect sound forever"  well, I don't know if I want it in my system. But it would be cool to have so I can point to it and tell my firends, that's the first CD player.

Definitely an audio collectible piece. Wonder how the transport are holding up for these old machines.

Take care,

if that was the first cd player, then what's this?

http://gizmodo.com/5820608/sony-cdp+101-the-worlds-first-cd-player

sony also made the first car stereo cd players, the cdx-5 and the cdx-7, which added fm.  there was a cdx-7 in a used car i bought, back in 1986, which was ironic, cuz i didn't have any cd's, and didn't get a home stereo cd player until the late 90's...

i did buy a few cd's to listen to in that car...
