Title: ST-10 to ST-10M upgrade is "not available"
Post by: rustydoglim on 16 Feb 2018, 09:11 pm
Before ST-10M was available, I posted an estimated price for ST-10 to ST-10M upgrade.  But after getting more details from R&D, we realised that the upgrade involves replacement of the entire amp board (previously I assumed that's not necessary) because ST-10M is not simply a bridged version of ST-10.  There were some minor changes, but yes bridging is required. Larger cap board is added.
Back panel is obviously different.
So the final upgrade (which has to be done at the factory) would cost too much that we don't even think it is feasible to offer.

in the technical data I only see the power on 8 ohms
how it behaves with more low impedances?

I rushed to the NuPrime to see the specs you mention, but I find that this way of adding products to a page is very unprofessional! I'm sorry but if the sole difference from the ST-10 to the ST-10M are the back panel and the inner parts, to just copy / paste the front pictures without providing the other photos is a joke on the visitor.

Also, the description praises the 'true' 300W from the power supply yet the power rating reads 230W (which may be right) and the gain reads: ____ dB, which I'm sure is wrong. The review section has awards going back to 2015 when the product is not yet available (which sounds like a copy paste) and the FAQ forum also points to the ST-10 thread.

So I am really disappointed in this approach: let's announce a product we don't have yet, let's say you can upgrade the old one... ups, no, you can't, still, we'll put the product on the page without any 'hard' info, but just self praise of what the product is going to be.

That doesn't seem to me like a serious approach, and I love nuPrime products.

I'm not going to be popular with this post, but I think the quality of the products deserve better attention to these details.

Best regards,
Rafa.

Also, the 'get_customer_location' script on your web page gets me constantly redirected from v=7516fd43adaa to v=3fd6b696867d and currency is changed to Euros.

My keyboard language is in spanish (latin america) my OS is in English, me region is listed as in Ecuador (we use US Dollars as our currency), my ISP is correctly reporting our location, I'm not using any VPN, yet I cannot navigate to a page with dollars.  Every time I try to forcefully change region (since you don't provide a way to do it) the browser redirects me automatically also, making it very annoying.

Incidentally, the page is not designed to show more than one character for currency, and once the $ is replaced with EUR, then you get weird line wrappings.

Rafa.

Hold on man, stop complaining :)

I know you are a big supporter of NuPrime, and meant well.
But like you said, you get what you pay for!  The tiny profit goes into the awesome products at very affordable price. That leaves very little margin for other stuff, so we have to gradually improve the website. Well, send us your donation and we can speed things up, just kidding about the donation part.

ST-10M was released with limited qty for distributors to get hold of them (bigger production arriving) so we put up the spec, but R&D didn't catch up with giving us the info.

The "new" website now shows Euro or USD depending on our configuration on the web server.  I can show USD for Ecuador, give it a try now.  By the way, I am the sole developer for the website  :duh:

Fair enough. I mostly agree. But I cannot help think about a restaurant: you may have the best cook and the best food.  But if the menu has pictures of different dishes and no waiters to serve the tables, people will start drifting away.

I see it is an impossible dilema, and I agree you are putting the effort where it counts, but I still believe quality should be reflected everywhere and these issues I complain about cast shadow over your products, which, as you mentioned, I am a big fan of!

Still, I concede. You are right. No more complaints.

Best regards,
Rafa.

Oh, foodie will go to the extreme to get the best food, even if they have to wait a long line or get abuse by rude waiter.  :P
Joke aside, we mess up from time to time and thank you for your feedback and will pay more attention.
