Phillips CD-80 CDP

I have and am using an older modeled Phillips CDP as a Transport.Made ion 89 I think.Works great,but I was wondering if there are any Mods to the Laser pickup that can be done?

The unit is made from Cast Iron I think.built like a tank

Years ago Madrigal or Wadia.a;ot of the biggies used the unit's CDM1 Transpart modded and was looking for guidance as to what might be done to bring up the performance.

Sorry for not responding sooner, crazy busy these days...

A unit that old is NOT something that I would recommend modifying, due to the age of the laser/transport mechanism. There are simply better and more inexpensive pieces available now with newer technology.

WHat doyou suggest as a newer transpart that will work with a smART DAC?

I would look into the new Pioneer DV-45 or DV-656 as a cost-effective replacement transport.
