I have questions about the L-505uX's preamp outputs. In normal operation, are these active and available for use in feeding a powered sub-woofer?
I know this model has an operational mode that lets you use it as a preamp-only (feeding an external power amp), and power-amp only (fed by an external preamp). This made me wonder whether the preamp output was energized when not in one of these special modes.
I was also wondering whether the preamp output might always be energized, but with it's output signal required to feed the main input jacks. I own a pair of Luxman R-115 and R-117 receivers, and on these models the preamp outputs and main inputs are connected by external RCA interconnect jumpers. On these, there is no internal connection from preamp to power amp and removing these jumpers will remove the input signal from the power amp, effectively disabling its operation.
I'm considering the L-505uX model to replace my R-115, which is in a system that employs bookshelf speakers (with limited low-end extension) and a powered sub. Given this, I need to know that I can retrieve a variable-volume preamp output from the L-505uX while still using its internal power amp.
Thanks in advance for any reply.
