Tempest Extreme Upgrade Recommendations
« on: 10 Apr 2016, 03:31 pm »
Any recommendations for DIY upgrades I can make to my Tempest Extreme Preamp and/or Statos Dual Mono Amp? I'd like more bass authority and expand the sonic virtues in the midrange even more. The Dual Monos are crammed, whereas the Tempest Extreme has more room - better starting point.

Any recommendations for upgrading coupling or series caps, power supply, wiring, minor tweaks, etc.? My CDP is Cambridge Audio 640, phono is Technics 1200 with Audio Technica OC-9 cartridge, cables are Audioquest Copper, and Speaker wires 10AWG stranded copper. When I use these components with class AB or D amps, e.g. Behringer, the bass is deep and punchy, so I've isolated it to the Odyssey chain.

Thanks

Thanks, Klaus. I changedmy pre-existing AudioQuest Copperhead to Chord Chamelion cables - the gamut of sound improved tremendously.
