thanks for this. I loved her work. That pic she did of the kid with the toy (at least I hope it was!) grenade was priceless.0

If you like 'street' photography I also loved Helen Levitt's work.

stirman: Thanks for the link. I really enjoyed the article. Back in the day, Diane Arbus was also one of my favorites.
Always admired her character portraits. Too bad for her suffering life and tragic end.

Hey!

Thanks for the link. I'm planning to see the exhibition of her works at the Met Breuer soon. Hmmm.... I wonder which Mamiya TLR and lens is she holding in that pic?

Take care,

Don't know if you're interested in reading another one - cover some of the same ground with a few different facts and views.

Hey!

With a little snooping around I think it is the C33...

As for the lens, like an 80mm.

Hey!

Well, I went to see the exhibition at the MET Breuer. The first impression of the space was great, love the way the MET set up the exhibition, they are usually very good at this. Unfortunately taking photo in that exhibition was not allowed.

As for the photos. There were some of her famous photos there like the twin and the boy in the park with hand grenade. Looking closely at her prints of which some were taking indoor low light situation, it reminded me of Kodak Tri-X pushed, and they were indeed when I look through the book and see her contact sheets in the next room.

I have to admit that I've never been a big fan of her works since they are tend to be on strange and sometime seems macabre. Still, if you like photography like I do and have a chance to see her works in real life than you should see them.

By the way, here's a video about the exhibition from NYC-ARTS, a weekly show about arts in NYC area on PBS/Thirteen...
