Hello paul79, interesting experience(s) that you found both loss of detail and transparency. Obviously there are so many variables from circuit designs, parts quality and of course type and make of tubes that it's difficult to make true generalizations aside from what you have known. No one says that "too much of a good thing " couldn't apply in audio as well but when done very well, I still find tubes lend a more human/ natural/ un-synthesized interpretation of music reproduction. IMHO and experience(s).
