I have been waiting 40 years for Yamaha to bring these speakers back on the market! These new Yamaha NS 5000's will cost $11K a pair!!...here's some pictures! You can ENLARGE the PICTURES below to get a CLOSER look !

Looking forward to this. Not sure if they are still using Berylium for the mid and tweet, but whatever it is, apparently it's used for the bass driver as well this time.
A price of ¥750,000 each is mentioned, or $6,170 USD

edit: just found this out:
"Rather than Beryllium or carbon fibre, diaphragms are zylon, a liquid crystal polymer with tensile strength exceeding aramids."

 No, Yamaha is not using Beryllium for it's mid and tweeters on these new speakers, they are using Zylon on all three drivers!...this is a very high tensile strenght thermoset polymer that is said to be even better than Beryllium...sound wise!!

I look forward to auditioning these speakers. Way back in/around 1980 I caught the audiophile bug in large part because I bought a pair of the NS-500s. I just couldn't swing the NS-1000s at the time, but I loved those 500s.

Hmm. I sold my 500s to my lil sis when I disappeared into Asia in '87. I think she may still have them. I wonder....Geez. Do the original drivers even exist anymore?

-as it was with the NS1000s. Too bad about the choice of music, though. The jazz ensemble sounds amateurish and un-accomplished.

We will find out how good these speakers are when John Atkinson reviews them... "IF" these speakers are "sold here in the U.S.A."

The Yamaha ns 5000's were at Tokyo International Audio Show But the Magazine Reviewers couldn't get in the room to review them because they were wall-to-wall people listening to them .. the whole day! They talk about this on the bottom of this page below...

If you doubt for a second the frequency response, dynamic range, low distortion and SPL capability of the JBL Everest DD67000, just listen to a YouTube video recording of them played back through a pair of Audioengine A2!

The presence of Bennic capacitors and electrolytic capacitors is a little discouraging in a product of this caliber.
One can hope that Yamaha went to Bennic and had a custom run of high quality caps made to meet the need for specific values in the crossover. If these  are merely off the shelf Bennics then a golden chance for a better sounding speaker was missed. The run of the mill Bennic doesn't even make it to last place on my list.

The speaker as whole looks like a very interesting design.

I wish they would show up show near me so I could hear them.

Looking closely at the image of the crossover it looks like there definitely some Mundorf caps and possibly Clarity PXs and Clarity CSAs in there. Logically the Bennics should be in non-critical locations.
