No drivers needed for MAC or Linux!! Also ASIO mode, and supposedly better output circuits and regulators.

Steve, any chance this means your USB devices will be Linux compatible in the near future?

Possible, but my USB module may instead be replaced with a network interface.

Hello Steve,

It would indeed be very interesting to have a network interface.
Would OR5 be upgradable?

Possible.  It's modular.  Depends on how much real-estate the circuits require.

Cannot predict.  I'm just one designer and I have lots of projects to do, including the Hot Rod DAC, which is more important.

Steve,

Would your network interface allow iTunes control?

Not unless Apple decides to open-up their designs.  I dont think their approach is good anyway.  They still have their audio stack involved in WiFi transfers with iTunes and they compress it to ALAC.  Neither a good thing.

It is looking more and more like the networked solution has to be either proprietary like Sonos or Touch, or an open system using Windows Media Player and "Play-To" or equivalent.

Maybe Airfoil from Rogue Amoeba could be interesting.
Works with Amarra as well.

"Many Supported Devices
With Airfoil Speakers, you can send to many different devices, not just Apple's approved hardware."

Not shure though to what extend this could be a solution.
