I received the TV this morning and watch Avatar in Blu-Ray.  WOW!!   :D :D

It was the equivalent of watching a moving photograph.  I am extremely happy with my purchase.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUGGESTED THAT I BUY A PLASMA AND NOT A LCD!  The LED-LCD that I initially purchased had unnatural colors and terrible viewing anlge (relative to the plasma).

Cheers,

John

This is unfortunately a possibility...

Panasonic was keep the dream alive pretty healthily, but the reports of the black level issues blowing up is not helping them at all.

I personally think the issue has been blown WAY out of proportion, but with Pioneer out of the game, Panasonic needs to step up their game.

The amount of picture quality you can get from a plasma for the prices out now are ridiculous.

Yeap, plasma does some realness to video that LCD/LED has yet to match.
My NEC(Pioneer bought their technology) is going on 4+ years and it still kicks current LCD's butt...it has a richness/depth to the color I have yet to see in many of my friends LCD/LED sets.

They'd never allow that ad here Chris. Shame. That was funny.

The 42 Panny plasma I bought and installed at Xmas is running great in my family room, I recently updated the Custom settings to ones found in a monster thread over on an A/V site.  Nice.

Of course, it should have been the 50, but important to keep my wife happy too!!!

Just an update.  Paul's TV is now selling the TV (Panasonic TCP42G25) for $899 instead of the $1099 that I paid a few weeks ago.  There is a 30 day price protection policy so it looks as if I am going to get $200 refunded.  Great News!

At $899 this TV is a steal!!

Cheers,

John

Darn there is a new 42" LED LCD TV at Costco for 599, but I'm not sure if I should get a Plasma instead
