Turn your passive pre into active
« on: 27 Jul 2016, 08:56 pm »
This line level preamp was made for me by Roger Modjeski of Music Reference.  It cost me $450 + shipping.  Using a single 12AT7 tube in provides a tube buffer or +6 dB amplification with the flip of a switch.  Most fully active preamps provide + 6dB or less.  Use this between your passive preamp and amp if you want to see if an active tube stage would make your system sound better.  Selling for $225 which includes Paypal and shipping in CONUS.  Sales in the states only please.

It has none.  As I said in the ad, you use it between your passive Preamp (a volume control) and your amp.  I use a Tortuga passive but it will work with any passive.  This allowed me to see if i would benefit from an active stage in the preamp chain.  In my case I do not, but I never would have been sure without trying this.
