Hiya Guys,

I finally got a bit of time so I thought I'd make a Sticky where we can post all of the upcoming live events that we think other GASsers might be interested in.

Feel free to post anything from major acts, to the artists that frequent the smaller venues, to stage productions, to lectures, to upcoming concerts from our own pool of gifted and extremely talented GAS members.

Be sure to check this Sticky often so you don't miss out!

Let the postings begin.....

....I think I'll be the first

OK,

Heres post number two

Attention all local Sammy Hagar fans. Sammy is playing at Riverport on July 22nd and it sounds like it should be one heck of an event. Here's the blurb from redrocker.com

------------------------------------------
It’s Official!!!
February 28th, 2006

It’s official! Sammy hits the road this summer!

The Sammy Hagar “Livin’ It Up” 2006 North American Summer Tour will be
the ULTIMATE Cabo Wabo experience! The tour is an outdoor Cabo Wabo
atmosphere at every amphitheatre! Beginning in the afternoon in the
Cabo Wabo “village” there’ll be bikini girls, body builders, mariachi
bands, a Waborita(tm) bar, Cabo street food vendors, contests and much
more! You’ll be partying from the second you arrive! Sammy will perform
with the Wabos, AND he’ll perform with Michael Anthony in their band
called “The Other Half”, playing, well, you guessed it…!!!

It’s going to be one BIG REDhead party! Music and fun will be had by
all! Everyone will be “Livin It Up” with Sammy this summer! Sammy wants
you to know “you’re gonna think you died and went to Cabo!”
--------------------------------------

Lawn tickets are $10 clams. The party starts at 3:00. That means this concert will probably go until almost midnight.

If you're a Hagar fan, this should be great!
(I've got my tickets already)

FYI, I never get to play with the smaller SLSO chamber ensembles. Whenever I'm called to work(very rarely these days) it's only with the full orchestra. Sorry.

May 19th 2006 Update

Just thought I'd post a quick update since there are a few concerts that are flying under the radar.

First up is on Sunday 6/18 down at Blueberry Hill in the Duck Room. The group is Indigenous. They are a native American (Sioux) straight forward Blues Rock power quartet. When you listen to them you'll hear the distinctive sounds of the Strat as the lead instrument. Mato's leads occasionally show hints of Trower but express a more personalized style.

http://www.indigenousrocks.com/

Here are some samples of their music.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/artist/glance/-/175375/102-5150119-1562540

You rock fans out there owe it to yourself to give a listen to the samples up at Amazon. I've got their first three albums and love them all. This is just good music for the blues/rock fan.

The tickets are only $12 clams in advance. Laura and I will be there if anybody else is interested. We can get a burger, basket of fries and beers, then catch the show at 9.
===============================

Next up is St Louis Jazzfest down at Shaw Park in Clayton Friday 6/23 and Sat 6/24. Again, Laura and I will defiantely be attending this one too. Heres the lineup.

Laura and I will be going to Jesse Colin Young again this year along with (most likely) Ozark Mountain Daredevils.

================

We'll also be taking in one or two of Blackmores concerts down at Tower Grove Park. Give me a buzz if you want to go too, maybe we can carpool.

Well, thats it for this post. Just thought I'd give you guys the 'heads up'.

Hiya Guys,

Just thought I'd let you know Pat Metheny is playing with Brad Mehldau at the Sheldon on April 4th. The concert hasn't been 'officially' announced yet but as soon as I find out ticket information, I'll post it.

Next is Blue Man Group. They are playing down at Savvis on October 21st. For those that haven't experienced BMG live, heres an old article I wrote on their Complex tour.
http://www.tnt-audio.com/topics/bmgcomplex_e.html
If this concert is half as good as the Complex tour, you are in for one helluva ride.

The concert season is heating up again  :thumb: I'll post more as I find them.

Don't know if you guys were surfing the local venues website but Robert Randolph and the Family Band is playing down at the Pagaent on November 9th.

If you've never seen these guys, they put on one helluva show. Probably one of the better shows you've seen in a while. I've caught them two or three times now and they never fail  :thumb:

The Bistro has some really good concerts coming up too.

I really love the lush, layered sound of Imogen Heap formerly of Frou Frou.  She's coming to the Pageant Dec. 13th.  http://www.thepageant.com/calendar.html

Hey guys,

Adrian here. It's been way too long since I've stopped by. If it's worth anything, Scott and I have kept up with each other. Forgive me??? As you might guess, there have been a ton of things that I participated in and didn't bother to post about them. I'll try and do a better job of staying in touch. Tim, where are you? You're supposed to stay on me about that.

I played Phantom of the Opera at the Fox last summer, the world premiere of the play Ace at the Rep last fall, and I recently finished playing Spamalot at the Fox. Oh, I forgot the Swan Lake Ballet at the Fox in October. I had some huge violin solos for that, and should have let you guys know.

Last Sunday I played with Mannheim Steamroller at the Saavis(sp?) Center. I found out that it was a sellout crowd, as is the Manhatten Transfer concert coming up on Wed. Dec. 13 at Touhill. If anyone's interested, you might want to contact the box office at Touhill and find out if there might be ticket returns or last minute rush tickets.

If you're up for a free Christmas concert, I'll be playing the Saint-Saens "Christmas Oratorio" on Sunday Dec. 17 at Bonhomme Presbyterian Church(14820 Conway Road, Chesterfield, MO 63017 636-532-3486). The concert is at 7pm. I had events that conflicted with rehearsals for the Annual Bach Society Christmas Candlelight Concert, so I'm not playing that this year. The concert is usually held in the splendor of Powell Symphony Hall, and some of you have attended in the past. I'll check on the dates and get back to you. I may be interested in simply attending that concert. It's usually very good. That's all for now, and I'll see you later at the Xmas party at Scott's.

Regards,
Adrian
PS I hope that no one is looking for me at the symphony these days. The new conductor came in and shook up the politics. I'm basically out. He's bringing in people from New York to replace the locals who don't have contracts. It's rather upsetting...

Hiya guys,

Don't know if you've been surfing the local venues but there are a few interesting shows coming up......

The Sheldon has Pat Metheny and Brad Mehldau on April 4th
http://www.sheldonconcerthall.org/calendar.asp

and then Wildwood has a couple of shows that should be pretty good too...
Michael Martin Murphy on June 22 and 23rd
Doctor John on Sept 28 and 29th
http://www.wildwoodspringslodge.com/concert/index.html

We saw the Ozark Mountain Daredevils there last fall and it was great fun. Most of the shows are sellouts so if you see one you like, get your tickets early.
