Btw: I never said this was a great idea. But it's still sort of cool. In the sense that any auto excess is cool.

I think the MX5 is great as is.

Again, someday wanna buy beater & turn into track car. Not big engine, but beefed up suspension/brakes, cage etc.

My VW doesn't need the suspension upgraded, but still I have a big box of parts waiting to go under. Why? That's what we crazy enthusiast do, we do it with audio, and pretty much everything.....right?

I know it goes against the age-old adage of "not buying another person's project" but in this instance you can find quite a few well-sorted V8 Miatas on the used market at fractions of the cost of a new build. Because I agree that $53,000 on top of the car price is just lunacy considering what that'll get you in an OEM market (that's C7 plus some bolt-ons territory).
