Title: DAC 10 - Using only DAC section.
Post by: Genez on 18 Sep 2017, 11:42 pm
With the DAC 10... is there a way to bypass the preamp section and only use the DAC alone... as when using an external headphone amp?

Thanks!

I held down the + and - volume buttons at the same time, and it went to '00' reading.  But,  you can get that by simply turning the volume down all the way. Is it supposed to show a special symbol when in "theater mode?"  I do not have the headphone amp hooked up yet.   Just confused about what I should see if I follow that procedure. I just see a "00" reading.  In other words?   It simply shuts off the DAC 10's preamp volume control?????

Ignore the theater mode, it is useless and it turns every inputs into 0 db volume.
Really these is no need for theater mode because every inputs have volume memory retention.

I just hooked up my old trusty NuForce HAP-100 preamp to my DAC10, so I can use the HAP 100 as a headphone amp.

I first tried holding the  + and - volume buttons down simultaneously.  The volume reading went to "00."    = No sound.

Then...

I set the DAC 10's volume at 93, which I believe places the DAC10 output to 2 volts.   What did I get?   Music!

Is there anything else I may need to know about?
